After going behind early, Chelsea fought back and almost found an equalizer before the break when Enzo hit the post, but after the interval the Gunners were in complete control of the London derby.
Speaking after the match, Gallagher was extremely disappointed with the performance and apologized to the fans: “We’re really sad and disappointed. It wasn’t good enough. We just want to apologize to the fans who came to watch.”
“It’s not good enough. We started too slow. There were too many mistakes, the team was too lethargic. We can only look at ourselves and there’s still a lot to do.”
He refused to make any excuses for the lackluster performance in north London: “We cannot make excuses or blame anything. We just need to see ourselves as individuals and as a group.”
“We know we can be better than that. We may be tired but that’s still not an excuse. Everyone wasn’t good enough today.”
