Korean audience’s reaction after CEO Min Hee Jin’s press conference

On the afternoon of April 25, CEO Min Hee Jin of ADOR – the company that manages the NewJeans group, held an emergency press conference to address HYBE group’s recent accusations about herself.

During the press conference, ADOR’s CEO pointed out multiple instances of wrongdoing by HYBE, revealed personal text messages with HYBE CEO Bang Si Hyuk, and stated that NewJeans members and parents of them showed support for her.

After this press conference, various polls were conducted on Korean forums and platforms, asking netizens to choose between siding with Min Hee Jin or HYBE.

According to Allkpop, as of now, Min Hee Jin is receiving stronger support from the public through a trending post on theQoo online community with more than 500 comments.

Comments supporting Min Hee Jin received a large amount of interaction such as:

“Please reduce the media manipulation. Honestly, I can’t say I’m on Min Hee Jin’s side, but HYBE’s media propaganda is so overwhelming.”

However, in the rest, the audience thinks that Min Hee Jin is taking actions that negatively affect NewJeans, such as her constantly mentioning NewJeans and the members’ parents.

The fact that the female CEO openly criticizes other groups, such as frankly stating “ILLIT copied NewJeans”, can make the relationship between NewJeans and Kpop artists tense and difficult to communicate.

The audience also discovered that the name ADOR had disappeared from the management company section on NewJeans’ Naver profile. HYBE artists such as BTS (Big Hit Music), Seventeen (Pledis), LE SSERAFIM (Source Music), ILLIT (Belift Lab), Zico (KOZ)… still keep their management company names.

The announcement related to ensuring the rights and interests of NewJeans was posted on the afternoon of April 25 also through HYBE instead of ADOR.

Meanwhile, HYBE has officially sued Min Hee Jin and ADOR Deputy CEO Shin Dong Hoon for abuse of trust.

HYBE said that it will fully support NewJeans’ comeback. The group’s new MV is still released as scheduled, on the evening of April 26 (Vietnam time), paving the way for double singles to be released in May and June and activities in Japan.
