Dong ThapThai Ly Hao Nam, 10 years old, fell off a concrete pile in a construction site 4 days ago and died.
Information was confirmed by Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee Doan Tan Buu at 6:31 pm on January 4 at the scene. Up to this point, the rescue unit has searched for nearly 100 hours with many options but has not been successful. The 35 m long concrete pile where the child was stuck could not be pulled out.
According to Mr. Buu, the interdisciplinary relationship between forensic medicine, health care and local authorities assessed factors such as the location of the baby’s accident, the depth of the pile pipe, the length of time, the injury, and at the same time. scene observation and other professional factors, so the first stage is bad.
“Up to now, the specialized agencies have had procedures to identify the deceased victim and find a way to bring him up as soon as possible to take care of the aftermath,” said Vice Chairman of Dong Thap province.
Before Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee announced the baby’s death, Hao Nam’s father – Mr. Thai Van Tan Tai was invited by the local government to the scene of the accident. He walked with red eyes. In the past few days, he was always at the scene of the search with the desire to save his son. At home, many neighbors were also present to offer condolences to the family.
Director of Dong Thap Department of Transport Le Hoang Bao also said that after the specialized agencies concluded the baby was dead, the rescue would also change. Previously, the rescue force carried out the rescue and tried to save the baby’s life at the same time. However, at this time, the boy has died, so the rescue measures will change with the goal of bringing him up soon to take care of the aftermath.
On December 31, 2022, Nam and 3 friends went to the project to build Roc Sen bridge in Phu Loi commune, nearly a kilometer from his house, to pick up scraps. When passing through the construction work, Nam fell on a hollow concrete pile, 25 cm in diameter, 35 m deep. She called for help for about 10 minutes and then the sound gradually disappeared, according to the witness.
Dong Thap province’s rescue and rescue police coordinated with Military Region 9 and many other forces to send specialized equipment to dig and search for victims. Due to the deep-rooted concrete pillars and small cross-section, rescuers could not get through. By noon this afternoon, the machine had drilled more than 30 m deep, but encountered soil, hard rock, high adhesion, water pressure drills after one night of operation were ineffective.
The Dong Thap provincial government acknowledged that the lack of experience and limited machinery and human resources made the rescue work difficult and prolonged.
