DanangA male student majoring in Early Childhood Education was awarded 5 million VND by the University of Education.
On April 24, Mr. Nguyen Vinh San, Head of Student Affairs Department, University of Education, University of Danang, said this applies from the 2024-2025 school year.
“The policy is to encourage male candidates to study preschool. For many years, there have been no male students studying this major, while preschool education is in dire need of teachers in managing and educating children,” Mr. San said.
According to Mr. San, children in their first years of life need comprehensive education and contact with teachers and teachers. The amount of 5 million VND is not large enough to influence candidates when choosing a major, but the school wants to encourage male students to boldly overcome career “prejudice” to pursue it.
Information about a reward of 5 million VND for male students studying Early Childhood Education was posted on the school’s fanpage 5 days ago. On April 21, a male student registered for the aptitude test and admission.
“I don’t know if you registered after knowing the information or not, but this is a good sign,” Mr. San said.

In 2004, Da Nang University of Education had a male student studying Early Childhood Education. Over the past 20 years, the industry has not recruited any more male students. Mr. San said, after graduating, this male student studied for a master’s degree and worked as a lecturer in the Department of Early Childhood Education.
He acknowledged that in Vietnam, many people understand that preschool means taking care of children, feeding them or cleaning… but rather, they are the ones who organize activities and help children form their personalities.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Da Nang University of Education enrolls 2,800 students. As for the Preschool Education sector, the school hopes to recruit 200, but must wait for approval from the Ministry of Education and Training.
As of the end of last school year, the country had 1.33 million teachers and administrators, of which nearly 90% worked in public schools. The total number of teachers lacking nationwide is 118,000, about half of them at the preschool level.
