According to Mr. Anokhin, it was most likely the result of an enemy attack and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation is handling the consequences at the scene.
Regarding the incident, the Ukrainska Pravda newspaper on April 24, 2024 cited reports from local residents that an oil refinery in Smolensk province was on fire.
For its part, Euromaidan Press pointed out that the oil storage facility of the major oil and gas corporation Rosneft in Yartsevo, Smolensk province, about 126 km from the Ukrainian border, caught fire after an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and Local residents said at least five explosions occurred.
