Video of Russia bringing Western armor confiscated in Ukraine to Moscow for display

--

According to RT news agency, in the video released by the Russian military’s Zvezda TV channel on April 23, two M113 armored personnel carriers and Bradley infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) made by the US, along with the IFV Marder made by the US. The German production was located on a moving trailer near Poklonnaya Hill, where Victory Park is located in southwest Moscow.

Ukrainian-made Azovets armored vehicles are also among the military vehicles brought to Moscow for display.

Over the past two years, hundreds of M113 armored personnel carriers were sent to Kiev by the US and its allies. The M113 was first deployed in the 1960s. It is unclear which country provided the M113 that Russia obtained to Ukraine.

The US also sent Ukraine IFV Bradley. This vehicle was first put into use in the 80s. However, many Bradley vehicles were destroyed in the first days of the Ukrainian army’s counterattack on Zaporizhzhia in June 2023.

Meanwhile, a German-made IFV Marder was also confiscated by Russia in almost intact condition at the end of March near the stronghold of Avdeevka in the Donbass region. After conducting a number of tests, the Russian military concluded that the IFV Marder was too heavy, not combat capable, and unsuitable for operation on the Ukrainian front lines.

Worth mentioning, the heavy armored vehicle Azovets, which Ukraine developed itself, mysteriously disappeared from the factory in 2016. According to Russian officials, the vehicle was buried at a base of the Azov Brigade near the city of Mariupol. .

Many Moscow residents believe that these trophies will be displayed at the museum, or appear in the military parade celebrating Victory Day on May 9.

Last weekend, a Leopard 2A6 tank of the Ukrainian army that was likely donated by Germany or a NATO member was also pulled from the front line by the Russian army. It is likely that the vehicle will be present at the Kubinka tank museum outside Moscow.
