On the morning of April 24, Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held a meeting to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7, 1954 – May 7, 2024) and the 49th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2024).

Attending were former President Nguyen Minh Triet, former President Truong Tan Sang, former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen and other leaders and former leaders of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and military generals, historical witnesses.

Speaking to review tradition, Major General Nguyen Minh Hoang, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Veterans Association, reviewed important milestones in the struggle for independence and defense of the homeland of our army and people.

Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City Veterans Association has more than 67,000 thousand members. Major General Hoang said that the Veterans Association actively participates in building and defending the country, building great national unity, contributing to maintaining political stability in the area. Many veterans participate in party committees, governments, grassroots political systems, in hamlets and neighborhoods.

Associations at all levels have many creative models and ways to carry out local campaigns and movements, taking care of policy families and poor people in the city and provinces across the country; At the same time, participate in reconciliation teams and build friendships in neighborhoods and hamlets in residential areas.

This is also an opportunity to prepare for 50 years of overcoming many hardships and challenges to continue writing the golden history of the nation.
