Information given by the electricity industry at the seminar “Load adjustment, current situation and solutions to reduce the risk of overloading the power grid” organized by the magazine Saigon Businessman coordinated with Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation to organize the event on April 24.

According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), in the first 3 months of 2024, many economic sectors have recovered positively. Hot weather came early and lasted long, so demand for electricity increased.

Commercial electricity output in the first 3 months of the year reached 62.52 billion kWh, up 13.85% over the same period in 2023.

EVN’s statistics show that in the first 3 months of the year, the country’s commercial electricity output increased by about 11.4% over the same period last year, of which the agricultural sector increased by more than 16%, the hotel, restaurant, and Trade increased by nearly 19%, household electricity also increased by over 18%.

In the southern region alone, commercial electricity growth in Ho Chi Minh City reached more than 15% and the remaining 21 provinces grew over 19%.

Mr. Vo Quang Lam – deputy general director of EVN – said that in the context of an unfavorable hydrological situation, fuel prices such as coal and gas increased, but the electricity supply in the first 3 months of the year was guaranteed.

However, due to the prolonged hot weather forecast, operating the power system will face many difficulties during the peak hot months (April, May, June, July).

One of the solutions to reduce electricity consumption during peak hours that is being applied by the electricity industry during hot weather is load regulation (DR).

This is an electricity demand management program that encourages customers to reduce peak electricity demand and shift it to off-peak hours, contributing to reducing the system’s peak capacity during peak hours and reducing grid conditions. electricity is overloaded.

Mr. Bui Trung Kien – deputy general director of Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation – said this is a solution to optimize production and business activities, contributing to ensuring stable electricity supply and limiting incidents. fault in the electrical system.

With this program, customers enjoy incentives such as improving power supply reliability, being included in the list of priority customers for power supply, shortening the time to handle power grid incidents, and providing maximum support for customer needs. needs arising during the process of using electricity, free consultation on using electricity safely, economically and effectively…

“When businesses participate in adjusting electricity loads, they will reduce electricity costs by reducing electricity demand during peak hours, improve competitiveness by reducing electricity costs, and reducing production costs of products and services.” services, improving production and business efficiency,” Mr. Kien said.

According to preliminary statistics of the electricity industry, some businesses participating in the electricity load adjustment program have reduced total electricity consumption by 25 – 30%, thereby saving nearly 15% of electricity bills.

Absolutely do not disrupt the energy supply due to negligence

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the first quarter of 2024, the economy shows signs of strong recovery, leading to increased demand for electricity. Some provinces and cities had high increases in electricity supply for industry such as Quang Ninh province (up about 44.65%), Tay Ninh (up about 27.09%), Binh Dinh (up about 24.28%).. . Service business also has high growth rates in some localities such as Khanh Hoa (38.87%), Quang Nam (33.11%), Da Nang (28.5%), Kien Giang (23.89%)…

The Ministry of Industry and Trade requires units to proactively develop electricity and fuel supply plans (coal, gas, oil) and have provisions to respond to extreme situations that may occur, absolutely not allowing A disruption in the energy supply occurs due to subjective reasons.
