Along Highway 6, passing through Co Cham village (Long Luong commune), it is not difficult to see the destruction of flower gardens.

Mr. Song A Cang’s garden (Co Cham village) became desolate because of hail. Mr. Cang’s family grows more than 7,000 tomato plants, in addition to 6,000 square meters of land growing climbing beans, 4,000 square meters growing chayote and some other crops. Mr. Cang’s face was blank as he calculated the total damage of over 300 million VND.

Mr. Mua A La – Head of Co Cham village said that yesterday afternoon’s rain caused damage to the entire crop area in the village. “The largest damaged area is corn, and the heaviest are beans, tomatoes, chayote… almost completely lost,” Mr. La said.

According to Mr. La, this is a historic hailstorm that occurred in the area, leaving almost nothing for crops, leaving people empty-handed and having to abandon and replant everything.

“All crops were lost. The hailstorm lasted about 10 minutes and left serious consequences. Now people have to borrow money to renovate gardens, buy seeds, fertilizer and replant crops. It’s really difficult.” difficult and difficult,” Mr. La said.

According to information from the People’s Committee of Van Ho district, the extremely heavy hailstorm on the afternoon of April 24 caused more than 30 fibro-cement roofed houses in Long Luong commune to have their roofs punctured and severely damaged.

Hail also destroyed more than 550 hectares of crops, mainly corn (400 hectares), the rest were tomatoes, chayote, plums, peaches, beans, cabbage, oranges, tangerines…

Currently, the locality is continuing to collect detailed damage statistics and support people to overcome the consequences of the hailstorm.
