The drug possession suspect escaped from the police car, jumped into the river and drowned

On the morning of April 26, Nam Dinh Provincial Police said that around 5:00 p.m. on April 25, the Nghia Hung District Police working group discovered and arrested Ngo Van Dong (born 1985, residing in Xu Tien commune, Xuan Truong district) red-handed. ) committed illegal possession of narcotics.

On the evening of June 25, police blocked the Do Quan bridge area – where the suspect jumped into the river.

When reaching the area between Do Quan bridge (over Dao River), Tran Hung Dao ward, Nam Dinh city, due to the high density of vehicles participating in traffic, the car has to go slowly. Taking advantage of this, Dong opened the left rear door, fought back at the police, then jumped out of the car and into the river to escape.

Immediately, two police officers ran after him, shouting at surrounding people to arrest him. However, because it was dark and the water flow was fast, the suspect could not be detected.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Board of Directors of Nam Dinh Provincial Police directed the mobilization of forces and coordinated with local authorities and people to organize a search for suspects on the river and along both banks of the Dao River.

At about 4:45 a.m. on April 26, the authorities recovered Ngo Van Dong’s body from the Dao River, near the location where the subject jumped.

The police took Dong’s body to the morgue of Nam Dinh Provincial General Hospital, performed an autopsy, determined the cause of death and handed over the body to his family for burial.

For more information about the case, a representative of Nam Dinh Provincial Police said that during the search for the suspect, the police discovered the body of a woman in distress while swimming.

“The victim had a habit of swimming every morning in this river. At noon, the husband did not see his wife return and immediately informed the authorities. The police searched and discovered that the victim often tied a plastic can to her body so she could swim and get it stuck. at the riverbank. Initially, it was thought that yesterday the water was flowing so fast that this person was swept away.”the police informed.

Nam Dinh Provincial Police confirmed that the drowned woman was not related to the incident where the criminal escaped. Information on social networks claiming that two people escaped from a police van is incorrect.
