Former Secretary of Quang Ngai Le Viet Chu was expelled from the Party

The Central Committee assessed that Mr. Chu had degraded in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle; Seriously violating Party regulations and State laws in carrying out assigned responsibilities and tasks, violating regulations on what party members are not allowed to do and the responsibility to set an example.

Mr. Chu was also negatively identified, accepting bribes, causing very serious consequences, angry public opinion, and very negatively affecting the reputation of the party organization and local government.

Mr. Le Viet Chu, 61 years old, is from Nghia Hanh district, Quang Ngai province. He used to be Director of the Department of Transport, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Secretary of the Quang Ngai City Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee. In mid-2020, he resigned as Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee after being warned by the Politburo.

Previously, Mr. Chu was prosecuted and detained by the Police Investigation Agency of the Ministry of Public Security Bribery in the case that happened at Phuc Son Group. Mr. Chu was accused of receiving money to create conditions to help Phuc Son win the bidding package for the construction of the main road project on the south bank of Tra Khuc River, Quang Ngai province.

In this case, C03 also arrested former Secretary of Vinh Phuc Hoang Thi Thuy Lan, former Chairman of Vinh Phuc Le Duy Thanh, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Vinh Phuc Pham Hoang Anh, former Chairman of Quang Ngai Cao Khoa, Chairman of Quang province Ngai Dang Van Minh, to investigate the crime of accepting bribes.
