Completed determination of 4 quarter-final pairs at the 2024 U23 Asian Finals

The quarter-finals of the 2024 Asian U23 Championship have officially determined 4 pairs of matches after the final match of Group D ended.

In the final round of Group D, U23 Uzbekistan easily won 3-0 against U23 Vietnam thanks to goals from Alisher Odilov (double) and Ruslanbek Jiyanov.

This victory helped U23 Uzbekistan win first place in Group D with 9 absolute points – scoring 10 goals and not conceding a single goal.

U23 Uzbekistan will face defending champion U23 Saudi Arabia in the quarterfinals. This will be an opportunity for the Central Asian team to reclaim the debt they lost in the final two years ago.

Meanwhile, Vietnam U23 Team only got second place in the group and will face Iraq U23 (first place in Group C) in the quarterfinals.

This is the second time Vietnam U23 Team has faced Iraq U23 in the history of the U23 Asian Finals.

6 years ago in Changzhou (China), U23 Vietnam was shocked when they held Iraq U23 to a 3-3 draw after 120 minutes before winning 5-3 in a lucky penalty shootout.

Previously, the quarterfinals also determined two pairs. Host U23 Qatar will have a “big battle” with U23 Japan, while U23 Indonesia will face U23 Korea.

U23 Qatar and U23 Japan will play the opening match of the quarter-finals at 9:00 p.m. on April 25; Next, the U23 Korea-U23 Indonesia match took place at 0:30 a.m. on April 26.

U23 Uzbekistan meets U23 Saudi Arabia at 9:00 p.m. on April 26, while the U23 Iraq-U23 Vietnam match takes place at 0:30 a.m. on April 27.
