Eliminated from the Asian U23 tournament, Thailand U23 said goodbye to its coach

U23 Thailand returned home today April 24 after being eliminated from the 2024 U23 Asian finals. The Golden Temple team unexpectedly defeated U23 Iraq but lost the next 2 matches to U23 Saudi Arabia and U23 Tajikistan , therefore could not pass the group stage.

At the end of the journey in Qatar, coach Issara Sritaro also had to say goodbye to U23 Thailand.

U23 Thailand lost to U23 Tajikistan and was eliminated from the 2024 U23 Asia tournament.

“First of all, I have finished my work. With the preparation of the whole team over the past 1-2 years, we would like to thank the Thai Football Federation for creating conditions for us to organize tournaments and find get many players.

Next I will talk to the Thai Football Federation. According to the original agreement, if the team did not pass the group stage, my job would end. The end of the tournament means my mission is complete. I will talk to the federation about the future and next tasks,” coach Sritaro said.

Coach Issara Sritaro has officially said goodbye to Thailand U23

Evaluating Thailand’s U23 performance at the 2024 Asian U23 Championship, coach Issara Sritaro said that the players performed well. U23 Thailand lost due to loss of concentration at an important moment.

“All the young players tried their best. The coaching staff enthusiastically supports. We had a chance after the first match. In the next two matches, we played well but were distracted at the beginning and end of the match. U23 Thailand conceded a lot in injury time. It’s a matter of concentration and psychology“, Mr. Sritaro said.

After U23 Thailand lost to U23 Tajikistan, the media believed that Mr. Sritaro would no longer be trusted to renew the contract. The President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT), Ms. Nualphan Lamsam (Madam Pang), intends to let coach Matasada Ishii hold concurrent positions in both the national team and the U23 team.
