Writing on his personal Instagram page, Mr. Erick Thohir said: “After enjoying typical Korean dishes and discussing the Indonesian national team’s program until 2027, coach Shin Tae Yong and I agreed to continue working together.”
Mr. Shin Tae Yong started coming to Indonesian football in 2020. Coach Shin Tae Yong’s previous contract expired in December 2023. PSSI then extended the short-term contract with the Korean coach for another 6 month with the goal of bringing the two teams Indonesia and U23 Indonesia to participate in the Asian Cup finals. Both of these goals were completed by the Korean military.
Elsewhere, coach Shin Tae Yong said that having to meet U23 Korea in the quarterfinals made him feel “unhappy and very difficult”.
