That is the headline in the Mirror (UK) article today, April 25. Manager Jose Mourinho has been hired and fired by Chelsea twice in his career and could have a third spell at Stamford Bridge as current manager Mauricio Pochettino finds his job in jeopardy.

Klopp lost his unbeaten record, claiming to need the crisis of Arsenal and Man City

Chelsea may soon be looking for a new coach when Mauricio Pochettino is under great pressure. The Argentine strategist led the Blues unimpressively in his first season. Chelsea are ninth in the Premier League after a 5-0 loss at the hands of London rivals Arsenal.

Candidates to replace Pochettino have been speculated by Chelsea fans. One person that Chelsea fans support is former coach Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese strategist previously had two extremely successful seasons at Stamford Bridge and has not completely ruled out the possibility of another return. Take a look at everything Mourinho has said so far…

“Chelsea is the past”

Mourinho was first asked about his third spell in charge of Chelsea in 2019. Mourinho replied: “We’re not here to talk about it.”

Mourinho’s links with Chelsea continued even after he was appointed as Pochettino’s replacement at Tottenham. At the time, there were concerns that Mourinho was too loyal to the Blues. Mourinho quickly allayed those fears by suggesting that his time with Chelsea was one for the history books. He said: “That was before I was fired! That was modern football.”

Two-time Champions League winner Mourinho added: “I can be really happy here (with Tottenham), make everyone happy and there is no bigger fan than me in the world who wants Spurs to win and success. Maybe they are the same but not more so than me. So Chelsea is the past, a great past, two periods, two periods with titles.”

“Chelsea will always be Chelsea”

Mourinho’s time with Tottenham only lasted 18 months before he was fired by the North London team. Mourinho did not take a long break from work. The Portuguese strategist was recruited by AS Roma in July 2021. Just one year later, Mourinho once again expressed his affection for the Blues.

Mourinho said: “If you ask me if I want to take over ‘my Chelsea’, say so, yes I do but I’m silent. The club has reached such a level that it doesn’t matter to anyone, But Chelsea will always be Chelsea. Chelsea will always be big and my house will always be 200 meters from the stadium so I want to continue to listen to the sound of happiness and success, I’m pretty sure it will be like that.”

The 61-year-old strategist doubled down on the above statement shortly after by suggesting that he always had affection for the Blues. Mourinho added: “Of course, my English connection is Chelsea. That’s how I see things, as a Chelsea man after two spells and six years.”

“Chelsea is not the Chelsea we know”

Despite regularly expressing his love for the Blues, it appears Mourinho has ruled out working for the club’s current owners. A fan asked the Portuguese strategist to return to Stamford Bridge.

However, Mourinho does not seem very excited about working for Todd Boehly. Mourinho replied bluntly: “Thank you my friend, but Chelsea is not the Chelsea we know.”

In addition to direct questions about Chelsea, Mourinho recently confirmed his demands for his next job. Previously, Mourinho was expected to move to Newcastle United or Saudi Arabia.

Jose Mourinho revealed: “It’s not that I’m afraid of jobs with clubs. When some managers reach a certain level, maybe they say, “I will only take jobs that are created to win trophies”. My job is to try to turn clubs into The team is “created to win” or to achieve some goal.

The only thing I want is for goals and objectives to be set fairly by everyone. Do you think if I was at a big club in the Premier League and we were sixth, seventh, eighth in the table, I would still have a job? What I’m saying is that people should look at me the way they look at other people.

What’s important for me is whether the club has goals and whether I can say I’m ready to fight for those goals. I don’t want to say realistic, but at least semi-realistic. Because when I arrived at AS Roma, no one dreamed of reaching the European Cup final and we did it. I couldn’t go to a club that was almost relegated and the goal was to win the Champions League. That’s good but not fair.”
