Klopp asked Nunez to shut up after the loss to Everton

--

Nunez played the full 90 minutes as the Red Brigade were defeated 2-0 by Everton. This loss makes Liverpool’s hopes of winning the Premier League increasingly dim. Liverpool is currently 3 points behind top team Arsenal in the Premier League rankings. They are 1 point ahead of Man City but the defending champions have 2 matches yet to play.

Nunez himself had a bad night, missing many clear-cut opportunities, losing all five duels and only touching the ball 19 times, the lowest of any player in Liverpool’s starting lineup.

His frustration increased after referee Andy Madley blew the final whistle. Everton players celebrated with fans at the end of the match, while Liverpool’s stars mostly appeared dejected. But Nunez appeared agitated and started complaining about something to Klopp.

Nunez said as he pointed at referee Madley, seemingly to imply he was the cause of his team’s disappointing match. But Klopp paid no attention to Nunez’s moans and put his finger up to the Uruguayan’s mouth to tell him to shut up.

Nunez has scored 18 goals in all competitions, but still hasn’t matched the club’s record transfer fee. After the clash with Klopp and a poor performance against Everton, former midfielder Jamie Carragher believes that it may be time for Liverpool to sell the 24-year-old player in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Carragher told Sky Sports: “The chance Nunez missed before half-time is unforgivable at this level. I think after two years at the club, he contributed almost nothing. I don’t think he can help Liverpool win the biggest trophies. Maybe it’s time to make a decision to sell him next summer.”
