However, coach Diego Giustozzi’s players dropped the victory in the last minutes. The most unfortunate goal was the loss when there were only 59 seconds left in the match.

The opportunity to participate in the 2024 Futsal World Cup has not ended for the Vietnamese team. Coach Giustozzi and his team still have the play-off series to continue trying.

Kyrgyzstan is ranked 49th in the world according to Elo score, only 5 places lower than the Vietnamese team. This Central Asian team defeated Japan in the group stage, showing that they are a very formidable opponent.

However, against strong opponents, the Vietnamese team is often easier to play. At the 2024 Asian Futsal Championship, coach Diego Giustozzi’s students struggled against two weak teams with fierce defensive play, Myanmar and China.

When meeting strong and attacking teams like Thailand and Uzbekistan, the Vietnamese team has the conditions to perform skillful coordination phases. Kyrgyzstan conceded quite a few goals in the group stage, showing that this team’s defense can be defeated.

The Vietnamese team needs to take better advantage of opportunities. The number of 4 goals after 4 matches is not good enough, especially when Nguyen Thinh Phat and his teammates create many opportunities in each match.
