Two key players of Inter Miami are expected to return in the upcoming match after recovering from injuries. The Herons will face New England Revolution at Major League Soccer (MLS) at 6:30 a.m. on April 28 (Vietnam time).
According to Michelle Kaufman of the Miami Herald, striker Leonardo Campana had previously suffered a leg injury, and midfielder Robert Taylor had a muscle problem. Now, the duo will return to Inter Miami’s squad at the weekend.
Campana had a breakout year with Inter Miami and proved to be an effective backup to Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. The 23-year-old Ecuadorian has scored two goals this season during the Argentine football icon’s absence.
Meanwhile, 29-year-old Finnish midfielder Robert Taylor also quickly played well with former Barca stars such as Messi, Alba, Busquets and Suarez. This season, he has 3 goals in 9 official matches.
Inter Miami’s injury list is long this season with Argentine attacking midfielder Facundo Farias ruled out for the rest of the year.
Paraguayan midfielder Diego Gomez and star Jordi Alba have both been injured recently and won’t be back for a while. Previously, Lionel Messi was also absent for about a month after having a hamstring problem.
However, Messi proved his value immediately after returning. The 2022 World Cup champion just contributed 2 goals and 1 assist in Inter Miami’s 3-1 win over Nashville last week.
In the 2024 season, El Pulga is extremely flourishing with up to 9 goals and 5 assists in just 9 matches for the Florida club. Messi’s excellent performance helped Inter Miami top the MLS rankings after 10 rounds.
