Elon Musk said the process of verifying identity via ticks on Twitter could return on December 2.

Twitter’s new boss shares the process with a new process for personal identity verification to address impersonation issues.

All accounts will be “manually verified” before activating the tick, which Musk described as a “painful but necessary” process.

Accordingly, Twitter will add other color ticks, such as yellow ticks for companies, gray ticks for government and green ticks for personal accounts. Details will be announced next week.

Musk’s move comes after Twitter was forced to suspend its $8-a-month Twitter Blue Verified service, which allows anyone to pay for a subscription to get a blue verification tick. The service could not be deployed because Twitter users abused the system by impersonating brands and celebrities.

Earlier this week, Elon Musk said that Twitter would delay the relaunch of the Blue Verified service. At the time, Mr. Musk said Twitter “will probably use other authentic colors for organizations”, now Mr. Musk has detailed about the ticks. Earlier, Musk said he plans to relaunch the Blue Verified service on November 29. Musk’s latest timeline lays out the December 2 relaunch.

After a series of decisions by Musk after becoming the boss of Twitter, many large companies have stopped advertising on the platform. The account verification and ticking service is Musk’s attempt to find a new revenue stream for Twitter.
