From November 12, the IDF began implementing a 4-hour ceasefire in different areas of the Gaza Strip. On November 19, the IDF announced a 4-hour ceasefire in the Rafah refugee camp area. On November 18, fighting also stopped for 4 hours in Al-Shabura refugee camp in the same area.

On the same day, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi spoke out against Israel’s attack on an Indonesian hospital in the Gaza Strip. She emphasized that the attack was a clear violation of international humanitarian law. She called on all countries, especially those with close relations with Israel, to utilize their influence and capacity to urge Israel to end its violence.

Regarding the humanitarian situation, Egyptian media reported that the first 29 premature babies were evacuated from Al-Shifa hospital, the largest medical facility in the Gaza Strip, into Egypt for treatment.

Previously, Palestinian doctors evacuated 31 premature babies from Al-Shifa hospital, and pledged to also evacuate patients and staff still here. The World Health Organization (WHO) has described Al-Shifa hospital as a “dead zone” after sending a team to assess the humanitarian situation at the medical facility. Medical sources said that due to insufficient incubators, not all newborns could go to Egypt’s El-Arish hospital, 45 km west of the Gaza Strip, for treatment. Some children will be transferred to Ismailia or Cairo.

WHO said that currently more than 250 patients and 20 medical staff are still at Al-Shifa hospital and plans to evacuate them are being implemented but will take several days to complete.
