The Russian military released a video transporting many types of trophy armor, including Bradley and Marder, to Moscow for display.
Russian military television on April 23 released a video of a convoy of trucks carrying many armored vehicles moving near Poklonnaya hill in southwest Moscow, where Victory Park and the Great Patriotic War Museum are located. “These are trophies confiscated by Russian soldiers during a special operation, including Bradley, Marder and M113 infantry fighting vehicles,” the Russian military said.
In addition to the armor donated by the West to Ukraine, the convoy also carried the heavy armored vehicle Azovets, which was developed by Ukraine and disappeared in 2016. Russian officials said the vehicle was buried at a Russian base. Azov Brigade near the city of Mariupol.
According to Oryx, a war information analysis site based in the Netherlands, at least 76 out of 186 US Bradley armored vehicles aided to Ukraine were destroyed, damaged or abandoned on the battlefield. However, the actual number may be higher because Oryx only statistics based on images posted on social networks.
Russian soldiers seized a series of Bradley vehicles on the battlefield, many of which were in almost intact condition and appeared to have been analyzed by intelligence.
By the end of 2023, Germany has provided Ukraine with more than 100 Marder 1A3 infantry fighting vehicles, all drawn from the reserves of the German army and Rheinmetall defense corporation. Open source statistics show that at least 4 vehicles were destroyed, 9 were damaged or the crew abandoned during the war in Ukraine.
Russian soldiers in March first confiscated the Marder 1A3 vehicle in an intact state, after it got stuck in a muddy field near the city of Avdeevka.
According to Oryx statistics, the Ukrainian army lost at least 179 US-made M113 armored vehicles and the YPR-765 version donated by the Netherlands.
