Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov posted a fitness video after a newspaper reported that his health was rapidly deteriorating.
Novaya Gazeta, a Russian-language newspaper in Latvia, reported on April 22 that Mr. Ramzan Kadyrov, 47, was diagnosed with pancreatitis in 2019 and his health has recently worsened, causing the Kremlin to seek help. who can succeed and maintain stability in Chechnya.
The newspaper also said that in September last year, Mr. Kadyrov fell into a coma due to an overdose of sedatives and was treated at a hospital in Moscow. At this time, several high-ranking members of the Chechen government visited the hospital, raising speculation that Mr. Kadyrov may be in critical condition.
A few hours after Novaya Gazeta published the article, Mr. Kadyrov posted on the social network VKontakte a video of him exercising, pushing weights and practicing wrestling in the gym.
“End a busy day with exercise and a positive spirit. Remember that health care is an investment in the future,” the Chechen leader wrote.

Kadyrov is the son of Akhmad Kadyrov, who served as president of Chechnya before being assassinated in a May 2004 bombing. In February 2007, he was appointed by Russian President Vladimir Putin to lead the Republic of Chechnya.
He is considered a close ally of President Putin. Kadyrov has been placed on the sanctions list by the US and European Union (EU), which targets many close associates of the Kremlin boss.
