(PLO) – President of the Russian Senate – Ms. Valentina Matvienko said that Russia has drafted a package of retaliatory measures in case the West confiscates Russian assets.

On April 23, President of the Russian Senate – Ms. Valentina Matvienko said that Russia has drafted a package of retaliation measures in case Western countries confiscate frozen Russian assets, according to the station. RT.

Ms. Matvienko described the European Union’s (EU) plan to: confiscation of Russian assets is “unprecedented”, and warned that this “will destroy the global economy”.

“Of course, that is completely illegal and everyone in Europe understands that they cannot do that,” Ms. Matvienko said.

The President of the Russian Senate emphasized that Moscow has “prepared reactions” to the possibility of confiscation.

“We have a bill ready to consider for immediate response. Europeans will lose more than Russians. Of course, they are afraid of this, especially when their economy is collapsing” – Ms. Matvienko, calling on the European business community to oppose the confiscation of Russian assets.

Ms. Matvienko made the above statement just a few days after the US House of Representatives passed a foreign aid bill that included a provision to liquidate frozen Russian assets in the US to aid Ukraine.

The Kremlin immediately warned that it would not leave it alone if the US acted like that.

According to RTsince the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out, the West has frozen about $300 billion in Russian central bank assets, most of which are in the EU.

Moscow has repeatedly asserted that any action taken on Russian assets abroad will be considered “theft”.
