President Joe Biden announced on April 24: “I just signed into law the national security package that was passed by the House of Representatives last weekend and passed by the Senate yesterday.”

Mr. Biden said the US “guarantees aid shipments will begin to be delivered immediately, within the next few hours”.

The aid package is worth a total of 95 billion USD, including nearly 61 billion USD to support Ukraine, 26 billion USD for Israel and 8 billion USD for the Indo-Pacific region.

According to the station CNNspeaking from the White House after signing the law, Mr. Biden said that this was “a good day for America, a good day for Ukraine and a good day for world peace.”

The White House boss emphasized that this aid package “will make America and the world safer, as well as help Washington continue its leadership role in the world.”

President Biden also admitted that the process of the US Congress voting to pass the aid law was “a difficult road that should have happened easier and sooner”.

Mr. Biden has urged US lawmakers over the past half year to approve more aid to Ukraine. Finally, the US Senate officially passed these bills with an overwhelming vote (79 votes in favor – 18 votes against) on April 23.

Mr. Biden’s official signing of the aid package into law is the result of months of intense negotiations, personal lobbying from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and divisions within the Republican Party in the House of Representatives.

This is also a rare bipartisan victory for the current US president as he is conducting a re-election campaign for the White House.

The Pentagon immediately announced an initial aid package worth $1 billion to Kiev from new aid sources, including anti-aircraft ammunition, dozens of HIMARS rocket launchers and hundreds of thousands of artillery shells.

On the same day (April 24), President Zelensky thanked Mr. Biden and the Americans who supported the passage of a $61 billion aid budget package for Kiev.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin believes that the US aid package will not change the current situation.

According to the news agency ReutersPresident Biden also signed a separate bill related to TikTok, which requires ByteDance (TikTok’s owner company) to divest capital from this video sharing application within the next 9 months to 1 year.

TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew confidently stated that TikTok will win if it sues the security law recently signed by President Biden.
