The US approved military aid to Taiwan, China reacted strongly

(PLO) – China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the US regarding the 95 billion USD foreign aid law that Washington recently passed, including a military aid package for Taiwan.

April 24, China spoke out about Taiwan aid included in the $95 billion foreign aid act that the US just approved, saying the aid would only increase tensions and the risk of confrontation, according to the Ministry’s website. Chinese diplomacy.

“I want to emphasize that a military rapprochement between the United States and Taiwan will not make the island safer or save ‘Taiwan independence’ from extinction. It will only increase tensions and the risk of conflict and confrontation in the Taiwan Strait, and will ultimately be counterproductive,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin.

Mr. Wang also called on the US to comply with the “one China” principle and the provisions of the three Sino-US joint statements, “not support ‘Taiwan independence’, stop arming Taiwan, stop creating identify new factors that may lead to tension in the Taiwan Strait and stop endangering peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.”

“China will closely monitor developments in the aid package and take resolute measures to protect its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity” – Mr. Uong emphasized.

Beijing issued the above response one day after the US Senate approved a foreign aid bill worth 95 billion USD, which includes nearly 61 billion USD for Ukraine, 26.4 billion USD for Israel and more than 8 billion USD. USD to US allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region (including Taiwan).

On April 24, US President Joe Biden signed the above aid bill into law and will soon deploy aid packages.

The US has not commented on China’s above reaction.
