Israel prepares to attack Rafah

On April 24, Reuters news agency revealed that the Israeli government is completing preparations for a military ground campaign in Rafah, after weeks of negotiations with the US. Rafah is home to about 1.5 million displaced Palestinians, but is also considered by Tel Aviv to be the last stronghold of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

According to some Egyptian officials, Israel plans to move civilians from Rafah to Khan Younis within a period of 2-3 weeks. After the evacuation process, the IDF will deploy forces into Rafah, focusing on finding the hideouts of Hamas leaders. This military campaign is expected to last about 6 weeks.

The Israeli government has not yet officially commented on this information. Meanwhile, the international community continues to protest the decision to attack Rafah.
