According to German International Radio Deutsche Welle, China on April 24 criticized the US’s new foreign military aid law, including aid to Taiwan (China), in order to strengthen its capabilities. defense of this island.

The US Senate passed $8 billion (7.48 billion euros) worth of military aid to Taiwan late on April 23, as part of larger legislation that includes new support for Israel and Ukraine. US President Joe Biden then on April 24 signed it into law.

Responding to the above issue, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said: “I want to emphasize that strengthening military relations between the US and Taiwan will not bring security to Taiwan.” ”, and said that such support “will only increase tensions and the risk of conflict in the Taiwan Strait”.

Meanwhile, spokesman for China’s Taiwan Affairs Office, Zhu Fenglian, said this aid violates US commitments to China and “sends a false signal to the power that wants Taiwan”. independence”.

The new US aid to Taiwan was introduced to the US Congress as Secretary of State Antony Blinken prepares for a three-day visit to China, starting on April 24.

Blinken is expected to meet his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on April 26, with Taiwan at the top of the agenda. The top US diplomat may also meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, who has previously said that China’s unification with Taiwan is “inevitable”.

On the same day, the Global Times reported that China strongly opposes the US’s “hypocritical” moves in the Ukraine crisis by issuing huge aid bills for Ukraine and at the same time offering “baseless” accusations against normal trade activities between China and Russia. This will also be one of the main issues discussed during US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s visit to China.

Reuters quoted US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller recently saying that Mr. Blinken is expected to “express US concerns that China is helping Russia build a defense industrial base to sustain the war.” war in Ukraine”.

“On the one hand, the US issuing huge aid bills to Ukraine, on the other hand making baseless accusations against normal economic and trade interactions between China and Russia, is extremely ethical. fake and irresponsible. China firmly opposes this,” Mr. Uong Van Ban said.

According to a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, on the Ukraine issue, Beijing always “maintains an objective and fair stance, actively supports peace and promotes political solution”. Mr. Uong Van Ban noted that China always controls the export of dual-use items according to laws and regulations.

The above spokesman emphasized that China is not “the author or a party in the Ukraine crisis, does not add fuel to the fire, does not take advantage of the situation for personal gain and does not accept blame.”

Mr. Uong Van Ban said that China has the right to engage in normal economic and trade interactions with all countries in the world, including Russia, on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, a right that cannot be denied. should be interfered with or weakened.

According to the above spokesman, the only correct option for the Russia-Ukraine conflict is to take into account the reasonable security concerns of all sides and establish a balanced, effective European security framework. and sustainability through dialogue and negotiation.

The Wall Street Journal reported on April 23 that the US is drafting sanctions that threaten to cut off some Chinese banks or from the global financial system, which some US officials say will help prevent blocking Chinese commercial support for Russian military production.

“We strongly oppose the hypocritical behavior of the US, which fanned its own fire but blamed China. China’s right to engage in normal economic and trade interactions with all countries, including Russia, must not be violated. We resolutely protect our legitimate rights and interests,” a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman stated.
