Russia sets up Zaporizhzhia ‘protective dome’, Ukraine will strengthen long-range attacks

According to Sputnik news agency, the Russian Ministry of Defense said measures to strengthen the protection of the Zaporizhzhia region include the use of S-300 and Pantsir surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems.

“Russian air defense units ensure that protected objects are shielded from aerial attack weapons even in the face of electronic warfare measures and intense enemy firepower. S-300 SAMs, along with other air defense systems, are building a ‘protective dome’ over the entire Zaporizhzhia region,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian military also deploys the Buk system designed to destroy strategic and tactical aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, and guided bombs. Enemy attack drones (UAVs) will also face the Pantsir missile system.

“Under our supervision, no one can act in the area, not a single missile or aircraft,” emphasized a soldier from the air defense unit in Zaporizhzhia.

In 2022, the self-proclaimed Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Donetsk People’s Republic and Lugansk regions of Ukraine were annexed into Russian territory.

Ukraine will increase long-range attacks on Russia

In an interview published by the Financial Times on April 25, Chief of Staff of the British Armed Forces, Admiral Tony Radakin said that Ukraine will increase long-range attacks into Russian territory, when Kiev receives more Western weapons.

According to him, upcoming Western aid will help Kiev prevail despite the “difficult” situation. But he admitted, “Russia can also conduct long-range attacks more effectively than last year.”

However, he argued long-term trends could favor Ukraine because more Western weapons would allow Kiev to “shape the conflict in a much stronger way than before.”

On April 22, the British government announced the largest ever military aid package for Ukraine worth 500 million pounds ($617 million) including Storm Shadow long-range missiles.

On April 24, US President Joe Biden approved a foreign aid bill worth tens of billions of dollars, including an additional $61 billion in aid to Kiev. The White House boss emphasized that the weapons transfer process will take place immediately, focusing on artillery shells, anti-aircraft missiles and armored vehicles.

Earlier this month, Mr. Rodion Miroshnik, ambassador-at-large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, revealed that from January 1 to March 31, 201 Russians were killed and hundreds more injured in raids by the Russian Federation. Ukraine enters Russian territory.

Mr. Miroshnik accused Kiev forces of using mainly Western-supplied artillery shells to carry out the attack, and said that Ukraine’s supporters turned a blind eye.

Russia spoke out about the US secretly transferring ATACMS long-range missiles to Ukraine

The Russian Ambassador to the US declared that the ATACMS long-range missiles secretly transferred by Washington to Ukraine were “extremely dangerous weapons” but could not help Kiev turn the tide in the conflict with Moscow.
