Belarusian leader Lukashenko is a close ally of Russian President Putin. Mr. Lukashenko strongly supports Russia’s conduct of a “special military operation” in Ukraine.
Russia deployed its tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus in the summer of 2023.
Speaking at the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress on April 25, President Lukashenko mentioned the above Russian nuclear weapons and shared that he does not hesitate to use them.
According to Belarus’s state news agency – BelTA, Mr. Lukashenko stated that Russian nuclear weapons are a deterrent to neighboring countries that are “armed to the teeth” and deploy troops close to Belarus’ border.
Belarus President said: “You have heard President Putin’s announcement that an attack on Belarus will be considered an attack on the Russian Federation”
BelTA also quoted the head of Belarus as saying that the tactical nuclear weapons deployed by Russia on Belarusian territory are consistent with Belarus’s doctrine of maintaining the ability to destroy the enemy.
