The War Zone quoted a senior Pentagon official as saying: “An aerial bomb converted into a ground attack weapon is operating very ineffectively in Ukraine. The results are not as expected.”

Weapons are okay The War Zone mentioned may be GLSDB ground-launched small diameter bomb.

It is known that in January 2024, US media reported that the country successfully tested a new long-range precision bomb for Ukraine, expected to be on the battlefield as early as February 1.

According to US media, this is the first batch of GLSDB small diameter ground-launched bombs that the US has provided to Ukraine, and is also a new type of long-range bomb that even the US military does not yet possess.

According to the report, the GLSDB includes a 113 kg precision-guided bomb, mounted on a rocket motor, capable of launching from many different ground systems. The new bomb has a range of up to 150 km, potentially providing significant combat capabilities to Ukraine.

Thanks to GPS guidance and equipped with an inertial navigation system, GLSDB bombs can hit targets much more accurately than standard M142 HIMARS and M270 missiles.
